Recently, I had the pleasure to Photograph Natalie & Dan’s Wedding. (30th September 2018 at Christ Church Fulwood, followed by a Reception at Bartle Hall Nr Preston.) This special Day started with the Girls getting ready in Fulwood, Preston at Natalie’s Mum & Dad’s House. Meanwhile, the boys were busy popping on the cufflinks & putting the finishing touches together before heading to Church.

I hope you agree, that the Black & White Photographs give an authentic documentary feel to the images.

That these moments have been captured as they played out.

Previously, I have been asked for an entire Wedding Album to contain only Black & White Photographs. It looked amazing, printed on a photographic paper with high silver content. This ingredient improves & adds shine to the Highlights. Strange though it may sound, it somehow added a “FineArt” feel to the Wedding Folio.

Let’s look at these images in more detail. From Natalie & Dan’s Day………

Shoes on a table. Just a simple image which says so much. Notice that in many of my images, I tend to work hard to place the background out of focus. This does tend to emphasize the subject. Subtle lighting, not too harsh, allows for a well-balanced Photo.

Mum getting ready. This image is a favorite of mine. It is framed within the doorway. Showing the area of importance in the middle. Black White adding that authentic feel. The lens being used here is extremely wide, bringing everything into the frame. It’s an amazing piece of glass.

Cufflinks. Dan is looking to Our Bestman for the day. Again, another winner in terms of cropping in the viewfinder & background de-focussed. I love this pic!!

Natalie Preparing. In this Image the Eyes “have it”. Simple image, framed by the arm, being out of focus, making it soft against the sharp contrast of Natalie’s Eyes. I’ve darkened the image edges, this helps give that FineArt Feel.

Little Oliver coming into Church & Looking up, such an amazing image. Nothing more needs to be said. Captured in a split second with a long lens. It includes the bridesmaid’s hands, these could have been cropped out, but I think leaving them in adds to the story, of the moment.

The Chaps. Yes, an entirely “set up” Photograph, but a relaxed one.

The complete Family Photograph.
